A Journey of Change
My first career was as a diplomat, living and working overseas - in Beijing, Moscow and Berlin. I got to grips with different cultures and languages and did fascinating work - from negotiations over the future of Hong Kong to reporting on Russia's emergence from its Soviet past.
I combined this with my role as mother of two children, in different ways over the years - working part-time, job-sharing, taking time out and being full-time breadwinner while my partner cared for the children.
My interest in what motivates and propels human beings served me well as a diplomat but it was also what led me to my career change. I trained as a professional coach and worked as Head of Coaching at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office for three years. I then left my job and set up my own business as a life and career coach. Without being coached myself I would never have taken that step. So I know the power of good coaching.
Coaching and Change
We all face change. It is part of life. Sometimes we seek it out - we
re-locate, start a new career, alter our work-life balance. But however much we want the end result, the process of change can be a challenge.
At other times, circumstances bring change which we don't welcome and we feel daunted.
And sometimes, our lives simply move on but we don't pay attention, depending on habits or modes of thought which no longer serve us.
With change there is always choice.
But the right choices aren't always obvious. A course of tailored coaching can give you the time and space to reflect on what is important to you, and equip you to move towards your personal or career goals.
